A word from Jim

Five Arcs as a business was created in 2018 after being approached to advise individuals and organisations with their training needs regarding conflict and aggression. My main area of expertise is delivering training on managing violence and aggression in healthcare.

Training focuses on recognising reasons for and signs of aggression, effective communication, de-escalation, dynamic risk assessment through to safe and effective physical interventions.

Five ARCS is a business that I run in addition to my full-time role as a lead trainer in large metro hospital in Australia. My intrinsic values are, that organisations trained by Five ARCS share the same values and goals of mitigating anger, aggression and violence in ways that are respectful to both service users and staff.

Five ARCS has developed from extensive operational experience in various sectors working with conflict, anger and aggression. I endeavour to maintain operational hands on experience to ensure that courses I deliver are relevant, up to date and best practice.

All training requirements are discussed with organisations and a training needs analysis is formulated to provide tailored training.

Our aim is to deliver quality evidenced based training to staff that enhances their knowledge and ability to provide safer, positive outcomes to individuals who present with anger and aggression.

Five ARCS was founded on the principle that everyone has the right to be safe and underpinning all training is the Five ARCS model: Assessed Response Creates Safety (ARCS) of all situations and a five-point dynamic risk assessment.
